FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Visit our shop online to pick which colors of material you would like. Products will list any available sizes in each individual item.

Once you have finalized your order and checked out your order will go to ticketing and processed by our inhouse team. You will receive an email confirmation for the order as well as an email confirmation to notify of shipment.

On our online website we currently sell acrylic by the square foot. If you need a larger size we recommend reaching out to us via email at hello@happicastacrylic.com to see if we can accommodate your needs.

Materials will come pre-masked on both sides of the material and bundled in your shipping box for protection. We recommend not removing the masking until you are ready to use the material to prevent unintentional scratching. Please note mirrored acrylics come pre-masked on only one side.

If a color is listed as out of stock you can always email us at hello@happicastacrylic.com to get an update as to when a color will be returning to our inventory. If you are looking for a color that we have not carried please reach out to us as well so we can see about the possibility of bringing it in. We are always working to increase our inventory and provide more colorful options for our clientele.

Absolutely! Each item has the option to order a sample. We highly encourage you order a sample if you are introducing a new color to your collection so you can best judge the shade of the product. All computer monitors view colors differently. Ordering a sample decreases the risk of dissatisfaction. Likewise, having a sample is a great tool to show your customers to help decide on colors for projects.

Cast acrylic and extruded acrylic vary in their manufacturing process resulting in clarity, surface, and density differences of the product. Cast acrylic is poured and cooled to create large sheets of acrylic versus extruded acrylic which is forced into form. For the sake of laser cutting we recommend and sell cast acrylic as it has a higher clarity and surface quality meaning less scratching and prettier cuts.

Extruded acrylic is much denser material which makes laser cutting more difficult and poor engraving quality.

Cast acrylic can have a 10% margin of error in terms of thickness. It is always recommended that you utilize a digital caliper prior to cutting a material so you can make sure your settings a properly set prior to cut thus reducing the risk of not successfully cutting through a material.

Colors of acrylic can vary with a 15% margin of error between manufacturing batches. While manufacturers are always working hard to properly match this isn’t always perfect. Likewise, different manufactures can manufacturer the same color code of acrylic and still end up with slight variations in product. Here at Happicast are always working our hardest to provide product that is consistently up to our standard.

You should clean your acrylic with a nonabrasive fabric like a soft cloth with a gentle dish detergent and water to avoid scratching the surface. There are products on the market to help polish acrylic. Avoid using chemical products or rubbing alcohol as this can cause damage to the surface of your acrylic.

Acrylic is not certified food safe even though it is generally considered to be food safe. Manufactures have to get their products certified in every country to claim the food safe certification which not all do. Acrylic is generally known to not affect most foods but since it is not certified we as a company cannot tell you how to use your material.

You can use a table saw, circular saws, jigs, CNC routers, and more to cut acrylic. Most commonly people will utilize a laser cutter to cut their acrylic.

You can glue acrylic pieces together using liquid solvents like Weld-On which will melt two pieces of acrylic together creating a strong hold. If you are looking to glue a non-a-crylic piece of material to acrylic, we recommend using an industrial strength adhesive like E6000. Please follow the safely instructions of those products while using with acrylic to properly protect yourself.

We are working hard to bring a variety of acrylic supplies to our shop and suggest you also keep your eyes peeled for any updates on new products in our line.

To cut mirrors with your laser cutter it is best to cut with an inverted image and mirror side down to prevent flash back into your laser head. Follow along with us on social media for more laser cutting tips.

Proposition 65, officially titled the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 protects the state of California’s drinking water from being contaminated by chemicals that are known to cause cancer, birth defects, and other reproductive harm. For our California customers we are legally required to inform them of any products that are listed on the Proposition 65 list of chemicals.

The prop 65 list of chemicals has “a wide range of naturally occurring and synethic chemicals” as quoted by the OEHHA (Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment). Common household products, food, drugs, dyes, and solvents are all listed as potential health hazards. Byproducts of products can also be outside of the acceptable Safe Harbor range that qualifies a product for a Prop 65 warning. For example, vehicle emission requires a Prop 65 warning.

The sheets of acrylic we are provided from our manufacturer come in 96x46 inch sheets that are labeled with the prop 65 warning. Unless we sent each product for testing by the square foot we cannot not disclose a prop 65 warning as we cannot be 100% sure of where that size product falls in relation to Safe Harbor levels.

For more information we recommend reading more about Proposition 65 at https://oehha.ca.gov/proposition-65.
